Jorge Masvidal KO’s Darren Till In Hometown

2nd Round KO

Despite being the underdog as well as being in Darren Till’s backyard, Jorge Masvidal came out victorious in his 2nd round KO of number 3 ranked welterweight Darren Till on Saturday night in London at the 02 Arena.

“He’s a stud. Before that shot (the KO punch) I hit him with some bombs, and he was just smiling right back at me. He kind of reminded me of myself the way he takes shots, he just wants to fight. It was definitely a pleasure to be in there with a stud like that in his country.”

Realistically, Masvidal will most likely have to take another fight before getting a title shot. Before the win Saturday night, he was defeated twice via decision against Demian Maia and Stephen Thompson. Regardless however, his goal is a shot at the title in the near future.

“I’ve definitely got the heart to be in this sport. My will has never been in question. I’ve been beaten on decisions, but it’s never that I’ve given up. You know, I’ve been out pointed and stuff. I’ve got enough skill set, I’ve got enough athleticism to go for that belt. So all i’ve said is that, before I retire I’m going to get that belt.”
