The now “former” Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw took to Instagram this morning to announce that he “voluntarily” relinquished his title following an abnormal USADA test result for his last fight in January, a 32 second TKO loss to current 125 champion Henry Cejudo in Brooklyn, New York.
USADA, the United States Anti Doping Agency, issued the following statement via twitter:
The New York State Athletic Commission said in a statement that Dillashaw has been fined $10,000 and suspended for one year, retroactive to the January 18th date that he tested positive.
At the moment, it is unclear what the UFC’s plans will be for the 135 lb. title. Talks were being held prior of Cejudo moving up to challenge Dillashaw in a rematch for his belt. With this news, the future is uncertain of both the next title fight, as well as continued speculation about the entire 125 lb. division.
Marlon Moraes and Raphael Assuncao are currently ranked #2 and #3 at Bantamweight.
