No injuries leading up to the fight and no complaints about the decision, Robbie Lawler just flat out admitted that he got beat by the better fighter Saturday in Newark, New Jersey at UFC on ESPN 5 in a unanimous decision loss to Colby Covington.
“My body felt good I just need to go back to the drawing board and get back to work. There’s a few things I can strengthen up and get better. It’s a learning experience. I actually felt pretty good going out in the cage. I felt pretty good in there. I just need to get back to work.”
Lawler, 37, has now dropped 3 straight fights and is 1-4 in his last 5 with the lone win being a decision over Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at UFC 214. The former welterweight champion debuted in the UFC back in 2002 in a unanimous win over Aaron Riley at UFC 37.
