While Dana White loved the fight between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz at UFC 244 in Madison Square Garden, the UFC President is not in a huge rush to make the rematch following the controversial stoppage due to cut in the win for Masvidal:
“Masvidal’s has had an amazing year. And, he’s going to move on to something else. I’m not saying that Diaz and Masvidal might not end up facing each other again, just not something that I’m looking at right away.”
The fact that Jorge Masvidal did not get to “baptize” Nate Diaz left many UFC fans unsatisfied with the stoppage due a cut over his right eye due to a standing elbow. Masvidal won all 3 of the rounds that they fought, but Diaz is notorious for picking up the pace in the later rounds of the fight.
“I had a little bit of an issue so I couldn’t run as much as I usually do. So I was like, I’m not going to really push until round 4, so my gameplan was starting to kick in but he got the job like he was supposed to so right on to Jorge for what he did.”
Regardless, Masvidal is willing to run the rematch back at some point in the future: whether that be immediately or later on down the line.
“We’re gonna run it back, so don’t worry about it. It’s going to happen again. “
Masvidal is now 3-0 in his last 3 fights in the UFC, all stoppages. He will presumably fight the winner of the December 14th title fight between Colby Covington and Kamaru Usman.
