The wait is over: Conor McGregor has agreed to return to the UFC and will square off against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone to headline UFC 246 on January 18th. The story was broken by ESPN MMA.
McGregor last appeared in the Octagon in October of 2018, where he was submitted via rear naked choke verse current lightweight undefeated champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. The Dagestan champion recently announced he will face number 1 contender Tony Ferguson in April in Brooklyn, New York.
Cowboy last competed in a first round TKO loss against #4 ranked lightweight Justin Gaethje.
The bout will take place in the welterweight division at 170 lbs; a division both men have fought at previously. In each of their last 2 fights, they competed at lightweight (155 lbs).
